Long beautiful Hair. Shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen…

Flow it. Show it. Long as God can grow it my Hair.”

If you enjoy figure skating at all, THIS is absolutely one of my favorite routines by Scott Hamilton (those backflips!) Also, first place I heard that song.

Also, I REALLY want to go ice skating.

It was another gorgeous day here in the Bay area! I rolled out for my almost daily post office and errands run in a tank top and some shorter shorts than normal (for me lately at least). The tan I have been working on is giving me a little boost in confidence in regards to my body. I’m probably at my heaviest right now, but something about some color on the leggies really slims you. Or I’m delusional. Either way, I like it!

Top: Forever 21

Jean cut off shorts: Another pair of Jeremy’s old jeans I cut. I have a lot.

Flats: Urban Outfitters

Clutch: Krust.

I am really LOVING my hair lately. In these pictures it’s about 3-4 days unwashed. I only wash my hair twice a week. A little dirt in the hair is the best!  I Love the randomness of my uneven lengths. And the blonde color I am currently sporting.  I feel really Summery, and California! I LOVE my stylist. She is amazing! I am lucky enough to also call her my friend. But, she is great. If I give her free reign to do whatever, it comes out amazing. If I suggest something, she’ll offer suggestions, work and viola! I feel very lucky to have the relationship I do have with such a talented and creative hair dresser. I also feel very lucky to get appointments period with such a busy, hard working hair dresser!!!

Today I worked on some bag orders and should be finishing them all up tomorrow to get sent out in the evening. I got a rush order just before dinner time that I was able to get all the fabric cut and prepped and ready to work on tomorrow. I am finding more and more just how much more productive I am in the evening. I need to start chugging coffee in the morning I guess. Or get a secluded ground floor studio so I can work  reallllly late into the night. For now, coffee it is! and maybe a better alarm clock…

I’m on a rock!

I had wayyyyy too much fun taking a few outfit photos today.  I love this particular photo spot and I loved my outfit today, so I really went all out. Sorry for the over load of photos!

I LOVE this place. It is a church across the street from the post office near my house. I stop here just about every time I am making a run to ship out some bags. It’s a gorgeous spot, especially on a day like today. It’s also  super secluded during the week before 5pm (there is soccer practice in the evenings). No one is ever back here and I love to come hide out to take a few outfit photos from time to time. There are redwoods and random boulders lining the edge of this grass field. Today I opted to take advantage and use them as props :)

Today I felt an itch to get a tiny bit gussied up. I usually dress pretty frumpy, and I think it’s affecting my mood in life. Today I put on a floral skirt and I was instantly happy! Also, I got a bit of a tan started over the weekend so I was ready to bare my legs in the sunshine.

Week in iPhone pics and a lot of words too.

This turned out to be a long one. It was an eventful week!

Roundup of my week in i Phone pics.

My new Gingher rotary cutter came in the mail and I got to test it out! Works like a charm. More on that later. I babysat and played with mega blocks. I braided my hair. I ran lots of errands. My nephew and I built a hockey player out of duplo legos while we watched The Sharks beat the Red Wings! that’s right! I cut out some hearts! I giggled at my sister’s cat Lola and her random relaxing positions. I put together a heart collector messenger! (Coming to the shop this week!) I ate some AMAZING chocolates.

Other notable happenings this last week:

Lisa took the train down to work with me for a day. It was really nice to collaborate on some work stuff with some one, and to get in some always needed girl chat. Planning a replay of that day for Tuesday.

I watched the Royal Wedding with my Sister in Law. Live. Yeah. I went to her house on Thursday evening, and we got Starbucks at like 9pm, killed time organizing legos. Got amped watching pre wedding stuff. Drank Prince of Whales tea! attempted British accents. Anxiously waited to get a glimpse of that dress! Stayed up until 5. And I eventually drove my butt home to sleep for a few hours. It was a lot of fun. I definitely dreamed of Marrying Prince William as a young girl and a teen. I think he’s a total fox, regardless of his hair loss. Ilove watching interviews and hearing him speak, he seems like such a gentleman. I am super happy for him and his gorgeous bride. I Love a good Princess story, and I REALLY LOVE a real Princess story <3.

I went to a chili cook off! Some family friends were competing and hosting the event. It was a lot of fun. This was the 2nd year of this particular cook off and it’s at a pretty great venue. It is in Pescadero, right on the coast. And while the drive is long, it’s quite gorgeous. I have been fortunate 2 years in a row to ride passenger (spoiled), so I just admire the scenery along the way. Also, it is down the road form a bakery where they have THE most amazing Artichoke herb french bread. Fresh baked, like by the hour. Seriously they are restocking constantly with hot fresh baked loafs. It’s one of my favorite times of the year now. Going to the cook off to see my friends and then walking to get THAT bread. AND My buddy John and his son Ryan Won first place in the cook off. Of course. John’s chili is always the best.

Kelsey posted an outfit on Monday AND and outfit on Thursday sporting her Heart collector clutch! She looks amazing and it made me giddy. Love her. She is also hosting a GIVEAWAY! So, go enter to win your own! duh. <3

Mandy posted an outfit for Steppin’ Out Saturday where she is rockin’ her grey Doily clutch, looking all kinds of gorgeous with her red lips. Seriously, I need to try the red lips more.

Nicole posed an adorable outfit and showed off her Black Heartstrings messenger bag and talked about how much she loves it and it’s functionality. She’s really putting it to the test riding her bike to work with it and everything. Perfect. I have quite the army of Quality Assurance tester and I LOVE it.

And these are just fromSunday. I had a mini vacation. At home. Well, it felt like a vacation at least.

Lisa, Steph, and Caro cruised over and along with my sister we all went and sat by my pool. We walked to Safeway to get delicious sandwiches. I got some color (not all tan unfortunately), and dipped in the pool. It was great. I don’t use the pool here enough I feel like. It was nice to have peeps make the trek to my neck of the woods to chill for the day. It always makes me really happy. I do love my building and it’s fun to share the grounds and amenities here with my pals when I can.

And now, ready for a busy week ahead! Seriously excited. Lot’s of fun stuff happening this week. Including an order of clutches for bridesmaids in a WEDDING. For real. I am PUMPED. Pretty much makes my year.

What I <3 Wednesday.

I recently stumbled across Lollipops. I  love discovering other creative people on the web to get inspiration from. (Also, LOVE how her name is spelled).  Fun stuff. I Love the What I love Wednesday posts. And had the perfect post to contribute. In my opinion at least. because I’m so obsessed right now.

What I LOVE: 70′s dress patterns, (and a few capes)

Over the weekend while I wan hanging out with my Sister in Law, she had mentioned she wanted a very specific style dress to wear to a friends wedding that we are attending in September. She had it all pictured in her head. Well it sure sounded that way. I believe the description was something along the lines of above knee skirt, aline shape dress with long balloon sleeves, and a modest neckline. Solid colored fabric with  a sheer overlay, with the sleeves only in the the sheer fabric only. She’s always been a 70′s child. I’m pretty sure the first  time I met her she was wearing bell bottoms, and ALWAYS had the craziest STACKED platforms. Well, we started to chat about constructing this dress vision she had, and at some point I decided to search for some 70′s dress patterns to use or get design inspiration from. Well, after sifting through a good 2,000 + patterns we had started a bit of a collection on Pinterest. I am now more obsessed with some of these styles of dresses that I was thinking I’d be. I want to make myself (and Emily) a nice collection of 70′s reproduction dresses this year. I can’t wait! I love it all, the sleeves, the ruffles, the necklines, the waistlines. Going to make some LOVELY stuff to wear.

AMAZING.

Fabric shopping for this is going to be so fun.

Sunday handmade roundup.

I LOVE finding new DIY’s, tutorials, and neat handmade projects by other people about the internet. So, I thought it would be fun to showcase my favorite recent finds from time to time, possibly even weekly!

I will try to keep this as a Sunday feature. That way it serves as burst of inspiration for the upcoming week! Good idea? I think so.

Here are some Great handmade projects I came across this week:

A Tablecloth reborn by Naomi of One Avian Daemon

This gorgeous top was made from a vintage tablecloth. SO pretty.

Week 47: Abigail from New Dress a Day.

Seriously, home girl is amazing at revamping random thrift store finds. I love this sweet blue dress paired with these boots!

Go look at what the dress looked like before!

Maeg-it yourself, Leather Lanyard Bracelet by Love Maegan.

Project ReStyle: Simple dress shortening.

I have  love affair with all things striped. And, I’m always looking for good striped dresses. I found this vintage striped dress on eBay a while back and have sort of let in sit in my closet because I wasn’t sure how I felt about it once I got it an tried it on.

When I first put it on, I immediately felt sort of drowned in fabric. It’s not too big for me by any means, it’s just a bit long, and has these large chunky sleeves. I do like a good puffy dolly sleeve, but these were just too bulky and long. I appreciate a more delicate pouff.  The big sleeves and the length just equaled out to too much.

When I first read about Elsie and Rachel’s Project ReStyle collective, The dress was the first thing that came to my mind.

When I set out to work on it originally, I had planned to shorten the sleeves and take up the length.

Hacked off bottom addition.

New hem.

After taking up the length I went to try it on and decided I had removed enough fabric. The sleeves no longer looked as bulky to me. They seemed to balance out the short length now, so I ended up leaving them. And this was the easiest ReStyle ever! Hopefully I can get a bit crazier on the next one. I did not wear the dress today since I was home most of the day. But, I did throw it on to get some pics. I plan to wear it this weekend if I make any plans. Here is the finished product!

Viola!

Day 3: Olive being a winner!

I got to work today to find that I won $100 Cash from Beso.com through Elaine’s blog, Clothed Much. My heart pretty much stopped for a second. I remember entering the giveaway thinking if I won I would buy the Steve Madden Intyce in Grey. Since I have been lusting after them for some time. But, I’m not shopping this month. So, I may reward myself with them at the end of this shopping free month (but, that seems besides the point of the whole no shopping thing) But, I do plan to spend the winnings on something I can find on Beso.com, you can literally find anything looking for.  I’m pretty stoked. I love winning. Thank you Elaine, I LOVE your blog. And Thank you, Beso.com. Did I just give an acceptance speech for winning $100? Pretty cheesy.

Day 3′s outfit is extremely uneventful. I almost don’t care to post it. But, I want to do them all. I scrambled this together in a rush this morning. I had originally planned another (cuter) outfit last night. But, it involved a skirt. And it didn’t end up feeling comfortable for today. It’s just one of those days. So, maybe later in the week I’ll wear it.

I love these olive jeans. I found them at TJ Maxx for $12.99!!!! I can’t wait to put them to better use with funner outfits.

White long sleeve tee: Old Navy

Olive Skinny Jeans: U-51 jeans via TJ Maxx

Flats: Kimchi and Blue via Urban Outfitters

Clutch: Vintage gift from Lolo. Who’s having a baby boy, VERY SOON, people! Due on the 15th. I’m getting pretty excited to race out to meet him as soon as I get the go ahead! I have to return to him his repaired Owl.

Satchel up!

This photo of a vintage Luella Satchel from JAK & JIL BLOG is  haunting me. No joke. It’s everywhere I look and it’s gorgeous.

Image credit: JAK & JIL BLOG.

I would love a great satchel. It’s such a lovely structured bag.

I have been scouring a few sites on a hunt for one to call my own. Here are a few that I Love:

1. Warehouse Leather Buckle Satchel Bag from ASOS.

2. Kimchi Blue Sophisticated Satchel from Urban Outfitters.

3. Buckle Strap Leather Satchel from Topshop.

OR

Any of the Mulberry Alexa bags. Because, it’s damn perfect. ( Look at the GRAPE!) But, let’s face it. I’d be too scared to carry a bag of that caliber around.

It’s yo birthday, so I know you want to ride out.

On Friday night, I went out with some girlfriends to celebrate Stephanie’s birthday! Stephanie met up at the apartment with Sarah and I. We all got ready together before meeting up with a couple other girls downtown.
And, before we headed out we had a photo shoot. Of course.

Sari (rockin’ her sailor colors):

Steph (classic and cool):

We Love playing dress up.

Happy Birthday, Steph! Hope you had a blast.

A dress for the Soy

I’ve been trying to make a little dress for my niece, Sawyer, for some time. My first 2 attempts failed. I did both with no patterns and the first I didn’t even really measure her. Ridiculous idea to attempt to make something for someone and eyeball the size. Don’t do it. I thought I couldn’t screw up a simple baby sized dress. Truth is, I can!

So, I went over to visit one night with tape measure in hand. Got all her stats. Bought a proper dress pattern to try out and her is the result:

she’s so tiny that the dress is sort of like a ball gown on her (not supposed to be, I was meant to shorten it, apparently :/ oops. )

She’s such a little lady <3

Don’t judge the super pink fabric too much. I got the yard of it for $1 at JoAnn’s during a sale with the intent on practicing this pattern with it. I’m confident enough to say, that I think I’ve had enough practice :) It came out well. It feels sturdy. I’m planning to whip her up quite a few more in some more wearable, everyday styles.

I loved making this. I was so excited when I got to put it on her.  I hope she lets me make her clothes for years to come! I also hope her and her brothers don’t end up thinking of me as the crazy Aunt who only gives strange handmade gifts. Although, I’m fully prepared for that outcome. It may very well be my future :)
