Day 16: Comfort wins

Well, I came a littttle close to throwing in the towel yesterday. I took another break over the weekend when I went out of town. And got back and began to write this post:

“Well, I may or may not be posting more 30 for 30 outfits. Today is probably the 5th day since I’ve started that I couldn’t get out and take photos. So, I really am a bit farther than is documented… But, the reason behind potentially stopping after today is, I straight up MISS MY CLOTHES!!!! So, as far as I have gotten has been successful, I’d say.  I keep thinking up outfits I want to wear! and none of the items are in my remix :( I’ve been so inspired by what other people are putting together with such a limited wardrobe. I might just be one of those people who just needs a ton of clothes at my disposal at all times.”

I have since changed my mind. I do really want to finish it out. I got a second wind, I guess.  Just in time since I’m about half way through. I need to backtrack here one day when I have the time and post a few outfits that I wasn’t able to photograph over the last couple weeks. Hopefully, I can figure something out.

Here are a few poor photos of Monday’s outfit. Maybe this should be added to the re-shoot stack… Linley mentioned posting outtakes last night. And, I feel like that’s all these are. Even though I do have worse. I’ll post them later.

My outfit is not exciting. But, I do like it. It’s comfy, and I was coming back to work after a 3 day weekend trip away having a blast.  So, comfort won. It usually does.

Blouse: Gap

Skinny jeans: Old Navy

Boots: Express

I need motivation and inspiration to keep going. I will be looking for it today!

PS. looks like today’ photos will involve rain! I can’t decide if I am discouraged or excited. I secretly think it will be sort of fun. If it’s not a total disaster.

Day 15: Patriotic Plaid

So far today has been a bit cruddy. A tire blew out on the freeway on my way into work. That wasn’t fun. I do not like being stranded on the freeway! High stress. Anyhow, I hit a few more bumps in the road and annoyances throughout my day today. But, it quickly turned around after a visit and 7-11 treat drop off from Emily and Stephanie, (complete with an iced mocha, a pumpkin spice latte, a pack of hostess donettes, a scratcher, and a lottery ticket),  and some chatting with Mario and Lisa. I’ll never under estimate the effectiveness of just simply having a friend to chat to. It always helps perk me up.

I was very red, white and blue yesterday. I wore a coat over this and was still pretty cold all day.

Day 14: I LOVE coral!

I’m a little bummed that I fell so behind last week. I got caught up in the holiday, and my high school reunion hoopla, among other things. It’s been a  busy long weekend. but, it was nice and a much needed and longed for break. I’m too tired to update about everything. But, I did a lot. A few notable items:

- Had a fantastic short work day on Wednesday. Boss let us go at 3 to maximize our long weekend! So awesome.

-Made a double layer pumpkin cheesecake

-Ate an AMAZING Thanksgiving dinner, cooked by my Aunt.

-Went to Toys R’ Us and Old Navy ON Thanksgiving at 10pm and Midnight. Passed out before we made it Target, really didn’t care enough to wait in the cold anyway.

- Went to my 10 year High School Reunion. what a trip. But, pretty fun.

-Ate a 2nd Thanksgiving dinner, courtesy of my Dad  (There is yet to be a 3rd… I am going to need all new pants)

-Cleaned and organized my apartment, sent some stuff off to goodwill! (Feels good to get rid of some stuff)

-Put up out Christmas tree!

I also did a ton of laundry, completely overhauled and organized my sewing desk area, and began my Christmas shopping)

And now, it’s back to the work week. It’s always harder after a long weekend.

I am in love with this top. I Love the color. I bought this top literally the day before I started the 30 for 3o. But, for some reason left it out of the original remix. But swapped it in recently :) And now I’m glad.

Today was really too cold to have my feet bare they way they were. I had a coat on all day, but was still pretty darn cold in the morning.

Day 13: Cocoa

I’m a bit behind… poo. I didn’t really get dressed over the weekend. I basically holed myself up at home a sewed. I made myself a dress to wear to my High School reunion! It came out decently (although, it could be better). I’m pretty stoked to get dressed up and wear it! But, other than sewing I ran to Target or the grocery store. No outfit photos… I tend to get really caught up in a project whenever I’m sewing. I forget to do anything else (eat, use the restroom, answer texts, etc) I completely zone out. I think I am either super into it, or I’m just really trying to use ever last second I have free to sew. Since, it’s hard to get a good block of time to work on things. Whatever it may be, I’m enthralled with the process and my craft.

I wore this yesterday (Monday). I forgot a jacket and was kicking myself all day. Because, despite the clear sky, and apparent sun, it was really cold. Well,  for me. I’m a wimp in the cold. So, note to self: Don’t forget a jacket!!!!

ps. I didn’t get an outfit pic today, and possibly won’t tomorrow. hmmm, either have to do an indoor fashion show later in the evening for both days, or call them a wash. I really want to finish sooner rather than later. eh, we’ll see.

Day 12: an iPhone outfit photo.

Trying to catch up a tad.

Here is Friday’s quick, pretty boring outfit.

Day 11: Rusty

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday. This week has flown by. I think an exciting Monday night helped contribute to quick week. ALSO!!!!! This morning at 7 am, my girlfriend Laura gave birth to her 2nd baby boy!!!! AND, I get to go meet him tonight. Very soon in fact. I have been pretty excited since I heard the news, and I think looking forward to something so exciting just made my day fly! Because it has. I’m leaving here in about 30 minutes to go kiss his sweet face.

A chill is starting to roll in here. It was finally about cold enough to wear a pair of tights! I love tights. I stocked up on some great patterns for this season. But, today I went with plain ol’ black and a pair of knee high socks.

Shirt: Old Navy

Skirt: Made by me! (while I love the color, the quality of this fabric is, meh. Still don’t feel skilled enough to splurge on fancier fabrics. I’ll get there)

Boots: Express

tights: Betsey Johnson via TJ Maxx

knee high socks: Target

Belt: Target

I still plan to swap a few unworn remix items and update it here. My internet was out last night for days, and I never got around to posting it after I fixed it. Hopefully tonight I’ll get to it.

Day 10: Cherry on top.

Happy Wednesday! The week is already half over! Weeee. Tonight I get to watch Dateline: A Royal Love Story, and a new Law & Order: SVU. I’m pretty pumped for TV tonight. Even though my childhood and teenage dreams of  marrying Prince William and becoming a princess are now officially shattered, I’m super excited to watch all the excitement coming up, surrounding the royal wedding next year. Kate Middleton is such a classy lady and I love that William gave her Princess Diana’s engagement ring. Very special and very sweet. Anyone else pumped to watch all the excitement? Surely, most ladies my age are.

I have all kinds of designs and ideas looming in my head today for various sewing projects. I started jotting them down on a notepad that I have here. I really wish I had time to work on these things when I get these surges of motivation and creativity. But, it almost ALWAYS happens while I’m at work in the middle of the afternoon.  And I can’t very well get up and go sew. Maybe someday…. Hopefully, the surge lasts long enough for me to get home in about 4 hours and get to it. We shall see.

I Love the red top I’m wearing today. I had never worn it before, and It was added to my remix pieces late. I actually switched a pair of flats out for it. And, I may be making 2 more switches of items I have not yet worn, and likely will not. Will update that tonight. I made a few poor choices and I am seeing that now. I guess I’m not cut out for this. But, I’m going to make a switch or 2 tonight and keep trucking through it. Because, really I am having fun with it.

Day 8: I’m, I’m sky high

Monday started a little blah. Because, well, it’s Monday. But, it ended quite fantastically. At the last minute (less than an hour before the game started) Mario and I randomly somehow decided to go to the sharks game. Got tickets super quick and jetted down to the shark tank. It was super fun. Didn’t feel at all like Monday.  The game was GREAT! The Sharks beat the LA Kings 6-3.  I love the excitement of the crowd at Sharks games. Sharks fans are kind of the best. It’s intoxicating to be in the arena with everyone cheering along. It always gets me super pumped!

After the game we grabbed food and Long Islands, and walked around downtown a bit.  I Love Downtown San Jose. It was nice and dead on most streets, and it was fun wandering around a usually bustling area, while it was so empty.

I have been wanting to wear these shoes. But, hadn’t quite had the guts to. I’m still way too insecure about my height sometimes. And, I’m working to get over it! I LOVE tall wedges! Sarah and I bought these at DB Shoes, a discount shoe store. We went one day about a month ago and tried on all sorts of shoes. We both loved these Steve Madden wedges, but neither of us really wanted to spend the $$$, so we decided to go halfsies. It works out nicely since we are living together currently. But, even when we don’t we’ll still share. When we lived apart we still traded and borrowed each others clothes. We’ll make it work. she’ll probably wear them more than I, so I’ll probably let her hang on to them , and just borrow them every once in awhile.

I painted my nails and toes with my sister’s OPI Cherry Blossom nail polish. Love this color! I love Hot pinks next to browns and tans. It’s a favorite color combo of mine.

Tried kicking my leg out to show the wedge . Apparently I can’t balance very well in platforms. Who’d a thunk?

We are having AMAZING weather here, right now. Sadly, it’s supposed to start to get cold tomorrow and rain over the weekend (typical). I really wish I could be out side soaking up the last moments of it. It really is perfect.

Days 6 & 7: Lazy weekend.

Quickie update on my 30 for 30. Saturday, I stayed home all day. And as planned, I organized, cleaned, and got in a little sewing. But later that evening I met up with some homies for wine, and Taboo. I threw on jeans, boots and a v neck. Turns out, I missed the memo that everyone would be in pajamas. dang it. I love pajamas.

On Sunday I, again, stayed home all day. I lounged about a bit, and then hit the sewing machine for a few hours.  Later, I headed to my brother’s place for dinner, COD Black Ops (gave it test run), niece and nephew cuddles, and fresh baked cookies. Again, I threw on jeans, boots a t shirt. I actually didn’t end up wearing the scarf over.

Saturday.

I’m trying to include weekends, boring as this one may be. But, I want to get through the 30 days sooner rather than later. I am already really starting to appreciate the clothes in my closet. I want to wear so many of them all so badly now that I’m limited. This is working. So far, I’m doing fine on the no shopping. But, 7 days isn’t long yet. So, we’ll have to check back in on that next week, and see if I’m feeling an itch…
