Week(s) in iPhone #16
So, I have been pretty absent on here lately. After the move, I just haven’t really felt much like posting. Mostly because I didn’t feel like I had much to post for whatever reason. But, tonight I decided to update, finally.
Life has been great since the move. I LOVE our house and I LOVE living with my brother and his family. I Love having Emily with me most days of the week while I’m working on stuff or to run errands with. And seeing my Niece and Nephews everyday. We have been having a lot of fun. Playing in our backyard, going on walks or bike rides, having family dinners, having friends over to just chill, watching all the new fall TV shows together, playing video games, and board games, decorating! painting our nails, drinking tea, and eating sweets and making Starbucks runs at 10pm. I am loving our commune living and hope we can ride it out as long as possible until it absolutely doesn’t work for us anymore. Because, life is good here.
And with that, here is a little iPhone photo update from the last month or more!!!!
Since moving into the new house, I have been very excited at the idea of making my Brother and Sister in laws, 2 dogs sleep with me in my bed. They love to burrow under the covers and it’s pretty cute. Well, Blue, the older one slept with me once, but he insists on sleeping with Mommy and Daddy otherwise. Coco, however, has spent most night in bed with me, and I love it. She is lying next to me as I type this like a little person, exactly as shown in the photo above. Her paws and head out of the covers. <3 the Coco.
I have been doing a bit of sewing. I attempted to make 2 dresses, but only 1 really came out :/ can’t win them all right?
I recently finished the photo collage on my bedroom wall. I am in love with. I’ll post better photos later! It’s lots of fun.
I get to see my Dad a lot more these days since he lives closer to me now. He comes over a couple times a week. It makes me so happy to see him so much more often now. He recently played Darth Vader for the kids and it was pretty awesome.
My sister and I babysat my niece and nephews one afternoon while my Brother and sister in law went to a Giants game, and Sawyer and Truman “helped” me to my laundry. They mostly sat in the laundry basket and put on all the clothes. Adorable.
So, we live across the street from the bay line. It’s pretty awesome. We have a really neat view out our living room window, and can zip across the street to walk, ride or whatever along a paved path the runs all along it. We discovered a couple little beaches close by along the path, that have made for a lot of fun walks.
The baby squirrel I could not resist getting pics of! I probably got closer than I should have, but I wasn’t messing with him, I promise. I just love his sweet face! And he was such a good sport, eating his discovered tomato skin and posing for pics. Don’t you love him? <3
I plan to be back to regular blogging again, now. I finally started taking pictures again last week, and I have some ideas and I’m ready to get back into the swing of things. I have a few sewing projects to share with you. And I am working on a few new color combos and bags to add to the shop soon!
Thanks to anyone who’s stuck around.
What I <3 Wednesday: Black and White Stripes!
A quick one! Because I am so sleepy… Keeping super busy over here! Starting to become the norm since the past few weeks. I’ll take it! I am filling orders, trying to stay on top of my shop by adding new designs regularly. I am also starting to plan for an actual swap meet at a car show to sell some bags at with a few other vendors. I am pretty pumped for it. But, I need to work double time to be able to have a good amount of product ready-made to take with me!!!! Wish me luck, bring me food, or remind me to take bathroom breaks… No, really. I forget.
For What I Love Wednesday, I chose Black and White Stripes! I guess it’s an obvious one. But, it was a chance to share a few fun pictures I have found and saved from about the web.
images: room, table setting, couch, boots, Balanciaga bag, Krust bag.
Seriously, Check out the table setting from Martha Stewart Weddings, and tell me that wedding doesn’t look like fun was guaranteed. I know I’m talking about black and white stripes here, but I Love the COLORS in the photo of the bridesmaids.
THAT COUCH!!! I WILL have Black and white striped upholstered furniture one day. I will.
If I could actually find that Balenciaga Bag, I would consider buying it. Okay, not really because I’d have to rob a bank. But, damn. Look. at. it. <3
And we are off…
This week is off to a pretty great start.
Doily clutches in Tan. In the SHOP.
My Monday was pretty productive! I got an early start. I tend to start later and work into the night. But, today I was out of bed by 9 and started getting things done almost right away. I worked to finish a few orders and sent some bags out. It was great that I got the early start since I had a dinner and movie date night planned. Saw Insidious. That was some intense stuff. yeesh. Who am I kidding, I LOVE scary movies. So, the intenser, the better?
I’m pretty excited about today. Lisa is taking the train down to my neck of the woods to work with me! I Love having makeshift coworkers for a day. Lisa volunteered to come cut fabric and hang out. Lisa is being given a sewing machine and wants to learn how to sew some home decor stuff, so it’ll be fun to have her to sew with and maybe learn some new things together. Tomorrow we have some fun things planned:
- Starbucks run (first and foremost)
- Prepare fabric for a few bags I have on my list to make.
- Test out my new Gingher Rotary cutter!
- Work on a few clutches Lisa and I have discussed previously.
- Eat some sort of yummy lunch.
- Break time in the Hot Tub.
That is the plan for Tuesday! Should be a nice day. I can’t wait. On that note. I’m going to sleeeeeeep. <3
This week according to my iPhone.
A few things I did this week.
Had drinks at a tequila bar that had the largest collection of tequila I had ever seen. Went to the DeYoung Museum and was lucky enough to attend the symposium for the Balenciaga and Spain exhibit which opened on Saturday (AMAZING)! Went fabric shopping! Drank tea, and ate Gianna’s cookies! YUM. Got my hair did! No More roots! Bought a saw and sawed the legs off my rarely used dining table and made it a much needed coffee table. Scored a sweeeeeeeeet side table/cabinet for free off craigslist to paint! Collected twigs for a few DIY projects.
Not pictured:
-Played with my niece and nephews <3
-Got to try Jambalaya. Never before occurred to me to just order it without shrimp.
-Danced with my friends
- Saw Cirque du Soleil Quidam
-Went to the closing show of SF Ballet’s Coppelia
-Started designing a dress to wear to a wedding I am attending in September!
Spring is going great so far! Minus the rain. I’m definitely getting a fresh start. Making changes around my place, and cleaning things out! Designing new bags, and starting other new exciting projects! I got an extra super duper dose of INSPIRATION while attending some killer events. Cirque du Soleil, the Balenciaga symposium, and the Ballet really got the gears working! B ring it on, Spring! Let’s do this!
Perfectly lonely.
Tonight my sister is leaving for a trip to Chicago. I’m super excited for her. I am also super excited for me. Right now the two of us are living in a 1 bedroom apartment. We created a studio type space out of the living room/dining room. So, we share the living room, but, mostly, it’s hers. I’m spoiled and have the bedroom. My sewing area is also in the living room. It’s pretty much the only place I ever want to be these days. But, I try really hard to respect her personal space and privacy while we are in this current living situation.
I will miss watching our favorite TV shows together and preparing meals together and whatnot, but, I cannot wait to have the place to myself to sew to my hearts delight whenever I want. I’m a night owl and that’s usually when I get my motivation, when she’s getting ready for bed.
I have some plans, a hair appointment and a baby shower that I am throwing for a friend on Sunday, but other than that I have plans to overhaul some dresses from my closet and possibly a few pieces of furniture, and then SEW Sew sew the rest of the time.
Should be a nice lonely weekend with my sewing machine, tea, and some good old movies on Netflix instant watch. I can’t wait.
But, I Love you, Sari!!!!
Chances are I’ll get too lonely and bombard my Brother’s house and his family at some point.
A little catch up, part 1: Crib Organizer.
I thought I’d do a few quick posts showcasing a few other projects I have worked on in the past few months but haven’t really discussed here enough. I sort of took an unexpected hiatus from blogging. I just was having issues finding the time while working and hanging out with friends, and sewing.
So here a re a few projects I’ve worked on:
A crib organizer. My girlfriend Laura is expecting a new baby boy in November. Through out her baby shopping she came upon a crib organizer and asked if I’d make her one similar to it, but more suited to her crib bedding. So, we took a trip to the Super JoAnn’s. (It’s perfectly about halfway between her place and my place.) I’ve only ever gone there with her. It’s huge. She brought along pieces of her bedding and this was what came out!
I took these at her house last time I was there. I had been so anxious to see it set up with the crib and the bedding. The organizer is meant to store spare diapers and wipes to have nearby for quickie changes. It was super fun to make. This was really fun to put together, and also really easy. I love little projects my friends come to me with. It’s fun to try out things I wouldn’t come up with on my own, and attempt spread my skills out on different types of little projects.
I don't know what you heard about me…
But a bitch cant get a crumb up out of me I drive a cadillac wear a perm and im a g And im a motherfuckin P.I.M.P
Bought this Singer sewing machine table at My sister in Law’s Community garage sale over the weekend. I’m in love. Been wanting one for awhile. And while they are pretty common and easy to find, sometimes they are out of my budget. And I got it dirt cheap. Con: Thing weighs a ton. legitimately. Fortunately, my sister is a bad ass and helped me lug into the apartment (no dolly!) just straight lifting. We took a lot of breaks and the elevator, but we still both had sore forearms and biceps the next day. It should be fun to move again someday. Next time I will have something with wheels handy.
I Love it. It goes so well in my room. AND, it works. Everything is functioning from what I can tell so far. It still has a needle in it even. Only thing it needs to actually sew is a treadle belt (think that’s what it’s called) which is about $9. Although, I’m worried dewing with it will cause more damage. From my research I’ve found that it is a Singer model number 66, made sometime around 1910-1920. Apparently I can email Singer with the Serial number the machine for an exact date it was made. Kind of RAD. Also, I can still purchase the manual from Singer. Party.
Singer, When I can afford it, I will come to you for my next machine.
Sick as eff: iRetrofone
Super cute.
“The iRetrofone base is made of heavy-duty, half-inch thick urethane resin creating a stable, functional work station that routes voice communications through the included handset.”
Pretty rad idea.
Lots of work, lack of money, trying this Etsy thing out, oh, and a link to a giveaway…
This week has begun particularly rainy, cloudy and gloomy. Very fitting with my mood. Tax day is Thursday, and I owe. Sat with a tax man to help me sort everything out, only to find out that I didn’t even have the funds to pay him to file for me. Sooooo, I have to go back tomorrow morning, after having to beg for money to borrow until payday, ironically on Thursday. Today has been pretttttttty gloomy for me. I was really planning on not needing to ask ANYONE for money throughout this mess I’m in. (losing a roommate and having to take on paying a 2 person lease on my own, my decision, yes, then realizing I will owe on my taxes, and thennnn my Salary being cut by 50%). This may all be too too personal. But, sometimes you just need to VENT! after each thing, I kept telling myself “I’ll figure it all out, it’ll be okay!” Always the optimist, I got hit after hit. I’m officially down on the ground. Hoping to climb back up pretty quickly. I’m sorry, I’m not hoping, I’m doing it.
I have wanted to start an Etsy shop for some time, and what better time to start than now? Exactly. So, I’ve holed myself up inside my apartment quite a bit, and probably will continue to do so until I have a large amount of product that I am happy with.
I opened the shop today, with the most basic simple items I could whip up just get it started. But, I promise I have some great ideas in store. And every second I get to spend on it, I do (sadly my 50% salary cut does not come with a 50% work load cut, so I am still working full time). I love getting to do something I love and the hope that it will possibly turn into something profitable, even if it’s very minor. It is still very fun WORK.
So, check it out:
Please keep in mind that it is still very much a work in progress.
Also, I teamed up with Emily again this month for another giveaway. This month, Strawberries! Check it out, and enter to win!

Reviews & Giveaways: Have a BERRY nice day.
And now, off to the gym for my new favorite class to get some of the ickies out.
