My Leese, and her Easter stripes.
Lisa had something to do with this bag coming to fruition. She has a lot to do with a few upcoming designs too. She’s a thinker! Lisa mentioned she had liked the original striped clutch I had done. And while I planned to eventually do another. Lisa had requested one for her personal collection and it really accelerated the process. So, Yay Lisa! Because, this might be my favorite bag.
I am so happy she sent me these photos tonight. I Love seeing my clutches in use and being enjoyed. Makes my heart all a flutter.
Check out Lisa rocking her clutch at Easter brunch, looking gorgeous! (Peep the nail polish! Love it.)
AND, of course… Get your own in the shop! Black and White Striped zipper clutch on Etsy.
The Stylish Housewife with her stylish housewife.
On Monday Jennifer over at The Stylish Housewife, posted a lovely outfit featuring her new Doily clutch! I just had to share a couple photos! I Love this little housewife. She is one of the sweetest around. It was really fun to collaborate on this bag with her.

A little EBEW roundup.
I was super in love with a lot of great outfits from last weeks Everybody, Everywear Maxi challenge. As I mentioned in my post, I haven’t always been a fan of maxis. But, lately I have been obsessed. And now, after seeing so many great Maxi outfits, I am completely gaga for this article of clothing. MAXI ME!
Here is a quick round up of my favorites!
From left to right, top to bottom:
Jentine from My Edit, that dress is amazing! and paired with the cognac accessories and olive jacket? LOVE it. The whole look is lovely.
Adiel from It’s because I think too much, This whole look is something I could really see myself wearing and I plan to recreate it. And, her vintage woven straw clutch?! I am super jealous of.
Nicole from Graph Paper Heart. Okay, Seriously. The back detail on that skirt is ridiculous. If I could go back in time to find this skirt at Anthro when it was around, I’d probably pay full price. Nicole paid $10. The bargain factor makes me love it even more. And the goth in me LOVES the all black. So pretty.
Amy from Stylish Year. Love her skirts shape! And the twirly-ness of it. And the way she styled it is just gorgeous.
Christine from My Style Pill. Really didn’t think I’d be into a printed maxi, but Hello! this one is super cute, and the whole put together look is really fantastic. I love that jacket.
Toria from Bonafide Style. The color of her skirt, is to die for! I LOVE the coral. And then paired with cream lace and gold accessories. SO perfect. I want to wear it on warm summer night, drinking wine on a fancy patio with little lights strung about.
Linda from Rose a La Mode. Love the Chambray short with her long heather grey maxi. It looks so clean and comfy. I totally want to wear it.
A HUGE Thank you to Linda and Liz for putting together such a fun collective. Which ultimately finally got me to try a maxi skirt! I really love Everybody Everywear and can’t wait for the next one! Although, I’m pretty pumped on my new found love of Maxi skirts and have quite a few looks to recreate and/or take inspiration from.
ps. I really need to find a chambray shirt!
The Stylish Housewife Clutch, aka the Doily Clutch.
More Spring clutches! This line was inspired by an idea suggested to me by fellow 30×30 remixer and lovely fashion blogger, The Stylish Houswife. Ah, you see where I got that clever name for this fantastic clutch, now? I was looking for a challenge one day (As I always am), and decided to ask some fellow tweeters for a good challenge. Well, this was one of those challenges. It took me a while to perfect it. And, I finally feel that I did. And now that it’s done, do you not agree the “The Stylish Housewife” is not the perfect name for it. I hope she doesn’t mind me calling it that. Also, I hope I completed her challenge well, and she likes it…
I really love this clutch. I’m ridiculously proud of how they came out. The construction is tops! If I do say so myself. And while they are so dainty and pretty, they are really darn sturdy! I used cotton canvas fabrics and stabilized them with a sheet of heat n’ bond interfacing. There is also a layer of felt in between to add extra stability and a little padding for more fragile items.
See all the bags in full detail and shop them in my Etsy Shop!
Outfit pics featuring this clutch are coming tomorrow. My sister will even be modeling one, as well! I finally got her to agree to let me use her for her beauty to sell my goods
She’s denied me the past 10 times I’ve asked her.
Feeling the love. Getting a boost in ego.
Received this lovely convo via Etsy today. And my ego HAD to share it!
“I just received the black canvas bag in the mail today that i ordered from you. I can honestly say it is the P E R F E C T cross body bag. What I learned from Cristobal Balenciaga.
On Saturday, I was lucky enough to attend the Balenciaga and Spain symposium at the opening of the Balenciaga and Spain exhibit at the de Young Museum in the city. It was the first time I had been to the de Young (place looks sick). We didn’t have tickets for the actual exhibit, but it’s there until July and I intend to go back and see it. The symposium was one day only, and pretty hard to get tickets for. So, Lucky me!
I have always admired and lusted over modern day Balenciaga designs. But, I have a new appreciation for the man behind the name and the man who started the brand and the house of Balenciaga.
I learned a lot about Cristobal Balenciaga. I learned a lot about the fashion industry in the the 50′s and 60′s. I left with a new appreciation for my current situation. I left feeling INSPIRED. Balenciaga’s designs are some of the most amazing pieces I have ever seen. He was truly a genius. Someday, I will get my hands on something with that lovely name on it.
What I learned from Cristobal Balenciaga:
Without question, follow your passion.
Perfectionism is a blessing.
Practice more privacy. Copying is stealing.
Fabric has feelings.
Having a moment. It’s a good one.
I just got a burst of inspiration and some fun ideas! I wish I worked super fast so I could have everything done in a matter of hours to see how it turns out! But… I am not. I will take my time and feel accomplished when I eventually am finished. And so, the list gets longer… And I love it.
I had been doubting myself lately. So, this burst excites me. It’s a chance to prove to myself that what I am doing is what I should be doing. It’s not always easy. There’s never enough time, a person like me sometimes needs a push once in awhile, it’s hard not having the funds to purchase the supplies for certain projects when a challenge or great idea comes along, it’s scary to put yourself out there, to accept criticism and it’s disheartening when you come across shady practices. I realize how negative I sound. yikes. These are just things I’m running into along my journey. I am confident they will all fade into the background and possibly disappear eventually. There will always be obstacles to overcome. And so, really I welcome them. I will take them all on. Time will work out if I set an appropriate schedule. I love the challenges, and the light bulb moments. The shopping list may get long, but I’ll get to it piece by piece eventually. Putting myself out there will only make or break me, and if I break? Well, that’s not going to happen. And as far as shady practices go, it’s everywhere, and I will never have to question my own integrity. I am letting go of my doubt. I have no room for it. I am loving what I am doing. I can’t imagine still being at that desk under those fluorescent lights, daydreaming that I am sitting in front of my sewing machine instead. I am grateful for everyday I have with it now. In fact, I am going to go lay a big fat kiss on it.
Happy Wednesday! Hope you are doing something you love. I will be <3
A braided updo.
I had fun with my hair Saturday night. I went out dancing with my sister and a few girlfriends. My outfit was pretty simple otherwise. So, I thought I’d spruce up the ‘do!
I Loved Elsie’s How to for Maiden braids, so I went off that a bit. I did 3 random braids, 2 on one side and 1 on the other, strapped them over like a headband, pinned each in place, and threw the rest of my hair into a disasterous bun! I <3 messy buns.
The rest of my outfit consisted of This awesome ruffled bow tank from Forever 21 over a year ago that I have never gotten around to wearing… Why? I’m not sure. It’s so cute. Paired with my trusty stand by, Black skinny jeans from Old Navy (recently bought a 2nd pair since they are on clearance!). AND, my sister graciously let me wear her Betsey Johnson peep toe pumps. Betsey shoes are the best!
Sunday handmade roundup.
I LOVE finding new DIY’s, tutorials, and neat handmade projects by other people about the internet. So, I thought it would be fun to showcase my favorite recent finds from time to time, possibly even weekly!
I will try to keep this as a Sunday feature. That way it serves as burst of inspiration for the upcoming week! Good idea? I think so.
Here are some Great handmade projects I came across this week:
A Tablecloth reborn by Naomi of One Avian Daemon
This gorgeous top was made from a vintage tablecloth. SO pretty.
Week 47: Abigail from New Dress a Day.
Seriously, home girl is amazing at revamping random thrift store finds. I love this sweet blue dress paired with these boots!
Go look at what the dress looked like before!
Handmade Crochet Doily rug by Dainty Loops.
Super cute. Buy it here.
Maeg-it yourself, Leather Lanyard Bracelet by Love Maegan.
I Love just about every Maegan does. But, this is an extra awesome idea.
Side by side sewing.
Today was super fun. Danny and I had chatted via AIM last night about making a clutch that he wanted. I had told him I was planning to make a large zipper clutch as well. So, we planned to get together to work on them, since we basically wanted the same thing. A giant clutch. He wanted one large enough to hold V magazine. I wanted one large enough to carry all my shit. Danny packed up his sewing machine and come over for the day.
Danny’s is a really neat black on black houndstooth print with anime character print lining.
Mine is an embossed black paisley fabric with polka dot lining and white accents.
I had a lot of fun. We talked about varying projects we want to work on in the future and it just got me really pumped! We talked about our dream workspaces and sort of half planned a shared work studio! I loved having someone to sew with!!!! As long as Danny and I have been friends, we never have actually sewn together. It made the day a lot less lonely. It was like having coworkers again. And Danny has worked me in multiple jobs funny enough. Maybe, we are meant to work together forever. That would be good deal. It’s pretty great to work with someone so creative and inspiring.
More bag pics later. And an outfit post with it tomorrow. AND I have a crossbody bag to debut tomorrow or Friday too. I’ll get it photographed tomorrow. I need more days! This week is going too fast.
