Day 19: Black and Tan.

I can’t believe how quick December flies by! I feel like it was Thanksgiving yesterday. I’m not quite ready for Christmas yet!!!! at all. I’m trying to keep up. I’m working on handmade Christmas gifts with my sister this week.  We are about 3/12 ‘s of the way done… This could get tricky. Hopefully we can pull it off. We just need a few good movies, some tea and a couple more free nights.

Yesterday was pretty rainy. It was the kind of day I wish I had an umbella or a good hooded coat. My skirt fabric is very absorbent. Not the best thing to wear on a rainy day.  On my lunch break I ran to Trader Joe’s before stopping for a few quick pics. Well, as soon as I parked at TJ’s it started to pour. So I was all sprinkled with rain. I dried off a bit and went to this spot under a tree. I guess as I was setting my camera up on the trunk of my car, my skirt was just sitting there soaking up the rain on my bumber. Smooth move….

Skirt: Made by me!

I realize the jacket isn’t on my 30. But, it qualified as my coat yesterday…

Day 11: Rusty

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday. This week has flown by. I think an exciting Monday night helped contribute to quick week. ALSO!!!!! This morning at 7 am, my girlfriend Laura gave birth to her 2nd baby boy!!!! AND, I get to go meet him tonight. Very soon in fact. I have been pretty excited since I heard the news, and I think looking forward to something so exciting just made my day fly! Because it has. I’m leaving here in about 30 minutes to go kiss his sweet face.

A chill is starting to roll in here. It was finally about cold enough to wear a pair of tights! I love tights. I stocked up on some great patterns for this season. But, today I went with plain ol’ black and a pair of knee high socks.

Shirt: Old Navy

Skirt: Made by me! (while I love the color, the quality of this fabric is, meh. Still don’t feel skilled enough to splurge on fancier fabrics. I’ll get there)

Boots: Express

tights: Betsey Johnson via TJ Maxx

knee high socks: Target

Belt: Target

I still plan to swap a few unworn remix items and update it here. My internet was out last night for days, and I never got around to posting it after I fixed it. Hopefully tonight I’ll get to it.

I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable.

I had my hair done last weekend, but after washing it was too lazy to blow dry and style it. This is the result of air drying and throwing it in a messy bun to keep out of my face while I sew.  It looked SO nice after having it done. I need to get myself in a better routine so I can get all the things I want to, done. Such as blow drying and sometimes even straightening my hair. I feel like I don’t have time for anything, but at that same time don’t feel like I do enough to not have the time for those things. sheesh! I’m a mess.

I need to find balance. I need to figure out how I can be happy working full time every day, and then still find the time to do the creative things I am constantly anxious to work on, when the work day is over. AND do my laundry, prepare a decent meal, spend time with my friends and family, make time for just me, pamper myself, workout. Okay, now I think I’m going to have a panic attack. There is just not enough time for it all. How do you do it all?

Yes, this post title is from the Papa Roach song “Tightrope” it was the hidden track on the album I had. Always really liked that song.

I totally wear hats…

Kind of amazing.

My sister and I saw this commercial last night:

We cracked up. It speaks to us. Emily, You gotta watch.
I totally identify.

Fantastic advertising, Target. But, I’m sure I’d still be hooked without it.

(Sorry for the poor video of someone recording there TV, but it was all I could get)

first outift post.

Maybe I’ll try to do one or 2 a week. Let’s see how that goes.

This is from last Friday night. Sarah and I went dancing in San Jose with some friends.

I did my curls pretty well, I feel like. I was pleased with them.

and here is what I wore:

Hooded faux leather jacket: Forever 21

Long black ballet tunic: Target

Floral scarf: Target

Black wet look leggings: Marshall’s

Vintage flat Boots: Urban Outfitters (Urban Renewal)

and for extra fun! (and so I’m not totally alone my first time) Here’s what Sari wore:

Looking like a straight up pinup girl!

Halter dress: (I believe) Love Culture. I’ll have to double check.

Shoes: Nine West

Oh Happy day.

So, The target in my town, Sunnyvale, closed in January of 2009. it was very upsetting. I remember very vividly, Sarah and I went for a regular shopping trip to our local target, and noticed that half the store was cleaned out! Just empty shelves everywhere, and people breaking down displays. So, we asked, and a girl said that it that day was the last day it was open, and that it was closing for remodel. Now, this target was a newer one, in my book. it had the Starbucks and whatever. It was also HUGE, 2 stories. the parking Garage did suck a fat one though. I was still bummed. We had to find the next closest Target. Mountain View. Sorry, folks, that location sucks. 1st complaint, no Starbucks. 2nd complaint, grocery section is like 4 aisles of nothing I ever buy. 3rd complaint, it’s just a weird layout. So, I made San Mateo Target my regular store. Even though its a bout 30 minutes from my house, it actually happens to be literally next door to my office, so it worked out. There were a few times when I would brave the Mountain View location.

Well, last night on my way home from work I got the target itch. I needed some spray bleach to clean the shower and some other items. But, I was already home when I decided I wanted to go. I thought about it and remembered that the Sunnyvale Target was to open in November 2009, so I got thought to get online and find an actual date.

BAM! the store opened on Sunday! Jeremy came along with me and we checked out my new favorite shopping location.

It’s so awesome! The flowers were created by local Sunnyvale Artists. So fun.

And the inside is great. The downstairs is all parking and the upstairs is the store. Way better than the old parking situation. This is super convenient. The store itself as a serious Grocery department. Complete with meats, baked goods, and produce!!! For serious. Jeremy and I were blown away. He even said the Starbucks licensed store inside was “legit” It’s very much like a real little Starbucks.

Ended up stocking up on groceries, because the prices are insane. My favorite cereal (which I couldn’t find at other Target locations, and costs $4+ a box at Safeway) was $2.04 a box! Awesome! I can eat Chocolate Chex whenever  I damn well please from now on…

I’m so happy. My Target is back and better than ever. Sorry, San Mateo, but I’ll still visit.

Target.

So, I admit I have been a bit of a Judgy McJudgerson about the Anna Sui Target line. I felt  looked too cheap for the prices they were asking. I had came to this horrible judgement after only seeing the dresses on the Target website.

Today, I ventured to Target on my lunch break, and for the first time got a face to dress look at some of the line. I was especially excited to see that the 2 dresses I had favored from the website were still available close to my size. The Website photos do not do some of the dresses justice. I do still feel some look way cheap for what they cost, and am not a fan. But these 2 looked MUCH nicer in person. And I grabbed the last largest sizes available and headed to the fitting room.

Now, I’m unsure if it’s that this style of dress in particular is just NOT meant for my body type, or if I need to finally come to gripps with the fact that I really shouldn’t be shopping in the Juniors’ department at age 27… I think the dresses are very cute. But, there is no way I could wear them, nor would I care to spend the money on them… I realize they would be somewhat cuter on, with some opaque tights, or an blouse underneath. But, I still think I’d be reaching if I thought I’d look great. I am having an issue with the first dress. Because I love the tweed like fabric with the studs. I Love studs, period. But, I think it makes a great mix… sigh.

Anyway. I left the dresses with the fitting room attendant, and took this Mossimo sweater to the checkout line:

I’m really in love with it. I am pretty gaga over cowl neck tops and dresses currently, and I love grey, and the pockets! perfect.

Maybe I’m just not as daring as I thought I once might of been? eh.
