What I <3 Wednesday.

I recently stumbled across Lollipops. I  love discovering other creative people on the web to get inspiration from. (Also, LOVE how her name is spelled).  Fun stuff. I Love the What I love Wednesday posts. And had the perfect post to contribute. In my opinion at least. because I’m so obsessed right now.

What I LOVE: 70′s dress patterns, (and a few capes)

Over the weekend while I wan hanging out with my Sister in Law, she had mentioned she wanted a very specific style dress to wear to a friends wedding that we are attending in September. She had it all pictured in her head. Well it sure sounded that way. I believe the description was something along the lines of above knee skirt, aline shape dress with long balloon sleeves, and a modest neckline. Solid colored fabric with  a sheer overlay, with the sleeves only in the the sheer fabric only. She’s always been a 70′s child. I’m pretty sure the first  time I met her she was wearing bell bottoms, and ALWAYS had the craziest STACKED platforms. Well, we started to chat about constructing this dress vision she had, and at some point I decided to search for some 70′s dress patterns to use or get design inspiration from. Well, after sifting through a good 2,000 + patterns we had started a bit of a collection on Pinterest. I am now more obsessed with some of these styles of dresses that I was thinking I’d be. I want to make myself (and Emily) a nice collection of 70′s reproduction dresses this year. I can’t wait! I love it all, the sleeves, the ruffles, the necklines, the waistlines. Going to make some LOVELY stuff to wear.

AMAZING.

Fabric shopping for this is going to be so fun.

Snow.

Looking at some fellow bloggers recents posts has me really wishing I lived somewhere where it snowed. Just a bit. I miss the snow. It’s not worth it being cold just to be cold. I want go sledding, catch snowflakes in my mouth, or sit by a fire and watch a snow storm out the window.

A little Bing Crosby for ya. From White Christmas.

Snow
It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow
Snow
I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow

Snow
I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow

Where it's snowing
All winter through
That's where I want to be
Snowball throwing
That's what I'll do
How I'm longing to ski
Through the snow-oh-oh-oh-oh

Those glist'ning houses that seem to be built of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a mountain covered with a quilt of snow

What is Christmas with no snow
No white Christmas with no snow
Snow

I'll soon be there with snow
I'll wash my hair with snow
And with a spade of snow
I'll build a man that's made of snow
I'd love to stay up with you but I recommend a little shuteye
Go to sleep
And dream
Of snow

Wishlist.

I’m really not spoiled selfish brat. Just bored, while waiting on something. So, what better way to pass the time than making a Christmas wishlist.I love wishlists, regardless of whether or not I intend to get anything on it. Here’s mine right now:

STEVEN by Steve Madden Women’s Intyce Riding Boot: Shoes, $104

BOOTS. Ah, the coveted Steve Madden Intyce boots. I want them in Grey (and Black). I keep looking them over but never make the purchase. I’m really bad at making purchases on single items over $100. I tense up. I should have bought them, or at the very least, THESE, by now.

UrbanOutfitters.com > Minnetonka Cally Slipper, $38

Moccasin Slippers! I wanted a pair at Old Navy, that were $14, but I decided to wait to purchase them on Black Friday since I knew we were going and they could potentially be much cheaper!

Well, of course they were gone, and they appear to have sold out online as well.… Grrr! I did find a pair at DB Shoes for $25. Petty steep for slippers. Kind of ridiculous. So the hunt continues.

PATRIK, $199

I do intend on buying the chair, after Christmas. I LOVE that chair. I think I’m finally going to go for it. I am becoming more and more aware of how much I do really need a proper chair for my sewing area. My cheap dining chairs and standing is getting brutal on the feet and back. I’d love a chair to adjust desk height to bar height. And, while any desk chair could potentially do the trick. The Patrik is the chair I’ve been lusting after for some time. I enjoy decorating, so the chairs design is just as important as its function. And just look at dear Patrick. He’s a beauty.

I will eventually invest in an adjustable dress form. I’m still iffy when it comes to the sizing of them. For it to be my size, I’d have to get a medium, and I think I’m on the way end of the range for the medium. But the idea of getting the adjustable dress form if to have a wider option of sizes and I’d like to have larger sizes as well. So, I really don’t know where I stand on it yet. More research to do, I suppose. My skinny mini non existent waist decorative dress form will have to do until I figure it out.

-A magnetic pin tray/cushion would be amazingly helpful while sewing. I always end up with piles of pins next to my machine.

Satchel up!

This photo of a vintage Luella Satchel from JAK & JIL BLOG is  haunting me. No joke. It’s everywhere I look and it’s gorgeous.

Image credit: JAK & JIL BLOG.

I would love a great satchel. It’s such a lovely structured bag.

I have been scouring a few sites on a hunt for one to call my own. Here are a few that I Love:

1. Warehouse Leather Buckle Satchel Bag from ASOS.

2. Kimchi Blue Sophisticated Satchel from Urban Outfitters.

3. Buckle Strap Leather Satchel from Topshop.

OR

Any of the Mulberry Alexa bags. Because, it’s damn perfect. ( Look at the GRAPE!) But, let’s face it. I’d be too scared to carry a bag of that caliber around.

Grown up, dress up: wedding attendee edition

So, I’m pretty stoked because I get to go to a wedding on Saturday. I LOVE weddings, and I love dressing up. I have only been to about 5 or 6 weddings in my lifetime,  most of which I was fairly young. I have not been to a wedding in about the last 6 years. This is the second time I am going to a wedding without my parents. And as I have been preparing what to wear, I have realized that all of the dresses I own are too small for me since I’ve gained weight, and not appropriate for an adult to wear to a wedding. I have been shamefully shopping at Forever 21 and stores of the like for dresses, for years. But It’s a joke, because a forever 21 dress is like a t-shirt on me.  But, I buy dresses to wear out on the town dancing in. Not to fancy events, until now. So, I have been on the hunt for the right dress to wear.

I originally planned to order a dress from Topshop. I saw this dress over  a month ago, and thought about it for a bit, and then decided when I got paid LAST month I would order it.

Tuck side Maxi dress.

In my head, it was perfect. A little old Hollywood glam, even. I worried what it might look like on my body a bit. Well, I put it off and eventually got completely sidetracked. And then Monday when I realized that I had nothing to wear it was way too late to order it. So, I’ve been on the hunt.

I tried these dress on yesterday.

This was nice, and simple enough. But, I wasn’t tooooo fond of the green on me for this particular type of thing. Wish it was in another color.

THIS! I loved the style,  shape, and feel of it. It shaped my body sort of perfectly. the bunching in the stomach is great on the tum tum too. But this print and the colors, I could not get behind for an October outdoor, afternoon wedding. I hope to find this dress again someday, in other color options. Help me find one!

My sister-in-law very graciously, offered up a few of her dresses for me to try. One of which is my backup dress. It’s a black H&M dress, that might be too short for bare legs, and too hot to wear in the afternoon with tights. hmmmmm…

I know I’m being picky. I can’t help it though. I have this vision in my head of what I’d like to wear. Something Navy or mauve, that’s knee length or just above the knee.  Also, I have these taupe pumps that I’d really like to wear!

One final hunting trip tonight. wish me luck. Secretly, I’m having a lot of fun!

I still want to buy the Topshop dress. Maybe I can wear it to a wedding I’m attending next year? lol

Asos wishlist.

Asos is one of my favorite shopping sites. But, they do not have a wishlist option (just a save for later option which saves the item on a list for 30 days). And, I LOVE to create wishlists on retail sites. It’s almost theraputic. Or, I’m just crazy.

Anyhow, while finding pieces I love, I realized I could just create my wishlist here! duh.

Dresses:

Perfect fall/winter dresses for tights!

1. ASOS Mesh Insert Pleat Detail Dress in navy.

2. ASOS Gathered Waistband Dress in pink.

3. ASOS Frill Bib Panelled Hem Dress in maroon.

4. ASOS Ruched Seam Detail Tea Dress in purple.

5. Vero Moda Gathered Front Zip Dress in mustard.

6. ASOS Cotton Crochet Shift Dress in khaki.

7. ASOS Fit and Flare Dress in mustard and in oxblood.

And the rest:

1.Mango Wool Mix Camel Full Skirt.

2. ASOS Safari Print Playsuit.

3. ASOS Buckle Shoulder Bag.

Okay, so apparently, I just really want a lot of dresses. I’ve actually been planning to purge a a lot from my closet that I don’t wear. Maybe I can make enough $$$ back to buy a couple of these….

Stella, Stella, Stella, Stella I love you.

Stella Mccartney Organza-Overlay dress.

Fall boot wishlist.

I was going to do a Fall wardrobe wishlist, until I realized how long it was getting.

I came to the conclusion that it is totally appropriate to give boots their very own wishlist.

So, here  it is:

Just about every boot pictured here (taken at Cathy Jean on my lunch break). I have gone into try some on, and had to walk away from the possibility of buying a pair, because I cannot choose ONE. problem? maybe. I’m narrowing it down to either the Grey or Taupe (right in the center). Single Buckle Wedge Boot from Cathy Jean. I also LOVE the Wedge boot with buckles. I have similar pairs from Target (black) and Bakers (Cognac) that I have had for the past 2 years and they are looking pretty shabby, so I do want to replace them. But, I think I should find a more inexpensive route to replace them.  We’ll see.

Cuff Knee high boot. Fortunately these are much more affordable, and I love that you can unfold them and they can be over the knee. Perfect. Except again, I can’t pick one color. hmmmm.

Flat knee high boot in blue. I really like the idea of these. Even though they aren’t really practical to wear to work. At least, at my current job. But, I keep imaging them with tights and skirts and black jeans. They would be a fun switch up for me.

Dr. Marten Leather Lace up boot. Mostly, because I watched Empire Records tonight.

Aldo, Topez wedge ankle boots. These look pretty casual and comfortable for Fall and Winter. They are canvas. I tried them on in the store while wearing a pair of black skinny jeans, and they looked great. I feel like they would be an easy grab on the go shoe when I’m running late. They are pretty versatile, probably more so in black, which they are available in.

The end, for now.

update, Just found great boots on Modcloth.com, it never ends….

Rebecca Taylor Fall Ready to Wear 2010

Today, I came across Rebecca Taylor’s Fall 2010 RTW line  that was shown back in February.

I can’t stop drooling.

It’s pretty perfect. It’s everything I love about Fall fashion. Layers, tights, boots, scarves… And I love the colors. Who would have thought pale blue was fall color? Not me. Until now!

For me, this is the highlight!

The coat, especially. Jesus. Killing me.

But, the chances that I will have $600 extra to buy a coat for winter in California are slim to none.

Also, side note, I love the makeup from this show. Any tips for this thick black eyeliner look? I discussed with my sister tonight who believes the black liner would end up all over after an hour or so. She pointed out that these girls were wearing this makeup for about 20 minutes. Any chance Benefit’s She laq would work?

In LOVE with Mauve.

I have had a serious obsession with all things the color mauve for some time now.

And in a perfect world, I would own this scarf:

I don’t see my love for mauve going anywhere anytime soon.
